Total Knee Replacement

If more than one compartment is affected with osteoarthritis and conservative management has failed, the preferred surgical option is a total knee replacement.

Many reports in the literature report up to 15% dissatisfaction with total knee replacements. This is not Mr Nakhla’s experience.

Mr Nakhla has developed his technique for total knee replacements over the last 20 years. He has been one of the first surgeons in the UK to stop using tourniquets. This means less post operative pain, lower risk of blood clots, less postoperative swelling, less wound problems and less overall blood loss.

Mr Nakhla has adapted his minimally invasive surgery and enhanced recovery skills to perform the majority of total knee replacements with only an overnight stay in hospital.

This has huge advantages for patients minimising risks of hospital acquired infections and blood clots. Minimising hospital stay also means significant savings for self paying patients. This is a great example of how the best care can actually be cheaper.
